Lockdown restrictions across Leicester have been slowly eased to allow certain pubs, restaurants and some other venues to reopen, as long as safety procedures are followed. This has allowed for one of Leicester’s most popular temporary exhibitions to re-open to the public.
Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience is housed in the beautiful All Saint’s Church on Highcross Street, and has been a hugely popular destination for those looking for a blast of culture. Tens of thousands of visitors attended the venue before the coronavirus lockdown forced the experience to close on 20th March. Now, Exhibition Hub, who are the organisers of the Van Gogh exhibit, have welcomed guests back to the church to see this unique interactive adventure. The exhibit was going to close again on the 31st August, but has now been extended to the end of the year on the 31st December.
The team have said that safety is their top priority, and a number of measures have been put in place to give visitors peace of mind when attending. Social distancing floor markings, chairs placed in the main exhibition hall, and hand sanitising stations will be available to visitors and staff. These procedures along with a “rigorous regime of sanitising high traffic areas through the day have allowed the organisers and guests to feel confident that the venue is as safe as possible.”
There will also be PPE in place for guests wishing to participate in the additional virtual reality experience. Visitors are requested to wear masks and follow directions to ensure everyone’s safety.
Creative Director Mario Iacampo said “We are delighted to once more ask visitors to step into the magical paintings of Van Gogh with us. We hope an hour or two of escapism in our unique immersive world will be just what people want after months of lockdown.”
In-line with government guidance, the exhibition reopened on 7th August, with ticket numbers limited to allow for proper social distancing. The experience will be open at All Saints’ Church on Highcross Street until 31st December 2020, with the nearest available parking less than 100m away at the John Lewis car park.
Admission prices are £13.00 for adults, £11.00 for concessions & students and £9.00 for children. Family tickets are available for £38.00, which covers two adults and two children. For more information and for group tickets, please visit vangoghexpo.co.uk
