Rewarding Exemplary Businesses Across Leicestershire

The King’s Awards for Enterprise are the UK’s most prestigious businesses awards, rewarding exemplary businesses across four categories – International Trade, Innovation, Promoting Opportunity through Social Mobility, and Sustainable Development.

The awards are open to almost all businesses and non-profits, of all sizes, with the winners announced on 6th May each year.

Businesses apply via a free online process and will be considered by a panel of experts based in London. Previously known as the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, these prestigious awards were renamed, with King Charles III continuing the legacy of recognising and promoting outstanding British businesses.

Julie and Derek Hodder of EEC Performance Systems, winners in the Innovation category, said of their win in 2020: “We were confident that this prestigious Royal seal of approval, recognised worldwide, would further boost our reputation and support growth within the UK and international markets, with customers confident in the knowledge that they are purchasing a superior product manufactured in Great Britain.

“Benefits of winning have included use of the The Queen’s (King’s) Award logo and resources as valuable marketing tools that we could widely utilise for increasing recognition of our brand. This has helped to further develop the business within the UK and Worldwide. It also provided an opportunity to celebrate! The presentation was a great motivator for our dedicated employees and recognition of their hard work.”

Anish and Selina Patel, Co-CEOs of Elcom Ltd, said: “As a recipient of the prestigious Queen’s Award (now King’s Award), Elcom has reaped a myriad of advantages. This accolade has not only elevated our company’s reputation, instilling trust among clients and bolstering global partnerships, but has also fortified staff retention and morale.

This triumph underscores Elcom’s unwavering commitment to excellence and corporate social responsibility. Poised for the future, our dedication extends to the continuous development of innovative solutions for our customers.

“The heightened visibility resulting from the Queen’s Award has garnered industry acclaim, cementing Elcom’s position as a pioneering force in innovation and quality. This has resulted in our company seamlessly expanding our influence into the Aerospace, Automotive, Defence, and Space industries.”

Mike Kapur, His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire says that these presentations are a real highlight of his role.

“They are such joyous occasions, where businesses are able to truly celebrate their hard work,” he adds.

“We have so many wonderful businesses within our City and County who deserve to be properly rewarded for their great achievements by gaining the highest accolade in the UK, and I hope to be presenting many more of these awards to incredible Leicestershire businesses in the near future!”

Applications for 2025 open on Monday 6th May and close on 12th September 2024.
