A Leicester walking group are holding a Valentine’s Day walk to encourage residents to love Leicester.
The walk, organised by Get Walking Leicester, will start at 12.30 on Friday, February 14 from Town Hall Square.
Amy Morgan, Get Walking Officer, said: “Throughout the year we try and fit our walks around the events coming up. We usually do around five or six walks like this a year as well as attending various other events.”
The Get Walking Leicester group has put on many events, including a very popular Halloween walk in October.
Mrs Morgan said: “Our Halloween walk was a huge success, we had about 100 people walking with us.
“We get a massive range when it comes to how many people turn up, it depends on the event and the time of year. We can get anywhere from nine to ninety.
“I would expect this event to have around 30 to 40 people but you just never know.”
This year’s Valentine’s Day walk will take about an hour and pass well-loved buildings in Leicester.
Mrs Morgan said: “What we are going to do is choose five key things we love about Leicester, we will see the buildings and mention the others, for example local heroes, green spaces, arts and culture and more.”
Every walker will be given a free pedometer and walking pack while being encourage to ‘Be a secret admirer of your city’.
Mrs Morgan said: “It’s great to spend your Valentine’s Day walking with us because it’s healthy, it’s free and it encourages you to embrace all aspects of love and loving the place you live in.”
